Bubble Tube Cleaning

Cleaning your Bubble Tube

We regularly get asked; How best to maintain our Bubble tube? We therefore decided to provide this handy guide on how to do this and how often.

The water in the Bubble Tube should be changed at least every 4 to 6 weeks, this is to limit the chance of algae growing and affecting the bubble tube.

Please note that if you do not clean your bubble tube you are increasing the risk of pathogens and your bubble tube either not working or even worse, leaking!

We recommend using 1926-041 BCB Fluid for Bubble Tubes to reduce the effects of algae and keep your tube water clean.

The external surfaces of the tube and the base cover can be cleaned with a mild detergent solution and them dried with a soft cloth. Do not use any abrasive cleaner or solvents, as this will cloud the acrylic tube or even weaken it.

Changing the Water

To empty the bubble tube you must siphon the water out either using our Bubble Tube Siphon 0733-040 or a pump. Drain it into a sink, buckets or through a window into an outside drain. Refill with fresh clean water. Please note that the water in some areas of the country is more prone to lime scale and bacteriological growth than in others. Therefore the Bubble tube may need more regular emptying and cleaning.

A diluted solution of sterilising liquid, such as ‘Milton’, left overnight in the base of the tube will kill any algae growing in the base of the tube. (This happens if the water is not changed regularly).

Changing the Water of the Bubble Wall

1. To empty the bubble wall, you'll need to carefully open the bottom access panel, in here you'll find a drain hose, put this into the jug provided or a suitable jug and release the clip.

2. Once emptied, reapply the clip to the drain hose and carefully close up the access panel. Refill your bubble wall with fresh, clean water. Depending on your local water supply, you might need to do this more regularly to prevent lime scale and bacterial growth.

Remember to change the water at least every 4 to 6 weeks to keep your bubble wall in top condition.
